Before you take a room

  • Ask what the bills cover (electricity, water, internet, gas) and how they are split.
  • Check the deposit, the minimum stay and the notice period before you agree.
  • Your landlord must register the lease with the Housing Authority within 30 days; ask for a copy.
  • Never pay a deposit or holding fee before you have viewed the room, in person or on a live video call, and seen a written lease.
